Experience our signature Kabuli Palao — the crown jewel of Afghan cuisine. Aromatic basmati rice slow-cooked with tender beef, sweet carrots, plump raisins and a delicate blend of traditional Afghan spices. The most-loved dish at Winnipeg’s first authentic Afghan restaurant.
Kabuli Palao (also spelled Qabili Pulao) is the national dish of Afghanistan and the undisputed star of our menu at Kabul Fourteen. Each plate begins with the finest long-grain basmati rice, slow-cooked in a richly seasoned beef broth until every grain is fluffy, fragrant and perfectly separated. The beef is braised low and slow until tender enough to fall apart at the touch of a fork.
What sets our Kabuli Palao apart is the topping: sweet sautéed carrots and plump soaked raisins add a subtle sweetness that balances the savoury, deeply spiced rice. Served with our homemade Afghan chutney and freshly baked naan, it is the truest taste of Afghanistan you can find in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg Food Vlogger (JDizzEats)
“That Kabuli Palao is the most delicious dish I’ve ever had. The beef felt like it was straight from a stew, and the rice was really sweet — the carrots, raisins and beans all added to the flavour. If you’re in Winnipeg and want authentic Afghan food, this is the place to go.”

“Tastes exactly like my grandmother used to make in Kabul. The carrots and raisins are perfectly sweet and the beef is so tender. Finally, real Afghan food in Winnipeg.”
